if its an older lamp that is, or maybe be an antique some day, do not do anything to it except to dust it. if you take off the patina it will be worthless.
1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. ketchup with a soft cloth wipe it on and let it sit a little, then rub it of, works like a charm
u wont believe but rub it with cigarette ash.
