   It may not be the lamp you need to worry, Have you thought about painting the room. Use a light tone color in a semi-gloss or what is called egg-shell.

   Hi, Yes tungsten-halogen bulbs are still the brightest. A room usually requires layered lighting to make it warm inviting which would come from more than one source. You need to take a look at what activities occur in that room then provide general, task and accent lighting. A combinations of floor and table lamps works great. Hope this helps.
