Its made of some sort of fabric and its white so the dust really shows up on it. I have tried using my swiffer duster but it doesnt seem to do much good.

I used my vacuum with the upholstery brush on it…it works well.
blow the dust off with a hair dryer.
I too like using the dust attachment on my vacuum. You can also use a new paint brush–take the shade outside and brush away. Either technique will make it look brand new again.
If it’s pleated, use the vacuum attachment that looks like around brush. If it’s straight, use a lint brush or tape. And you could spray it with static-guard which sometimes helps to keep the dust off longer.
Roll it from side to side in a tub filled with a few inches of luke warm water and 2 capfuls of delicate laundry detergent.
Distribute the liquid evenly over the shade with a cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth.
Gently blot the inside and outside with a white or colorfast towel.
Lay the towel on the floor and set the shade on it right side up to dry.
If it is not a large lamp shade, I would suggest putting it a bag with a cup of salt. Close the bag tight and shake it. This works great on silk flowers too.
