matadorrecs asked:

Behold! The first video from Matmos’ new album “Supreme Ballon”. ‘Exciter Lamp and the Variable Band’ is sort of an homage to Norman McLaren, the Canadian animation/direct sound magus. Directed by MC Schmidt Supreme Balloon available on Matador Records May 6, 2008 www.matadorrecords.com

like waz ur problem wit kidz ZZLe4Ni? Aren’t “fresh” things typically on the new side of old? Now I, for one, wouldn’t have used that term to describe this music (it’s kind of stuffy and reminds me of mothballs), but I agree with your sentiments about the music.

Kind of nice to have cross-generational fertilization of ideas. Mendel would approve. (Now there’s a pea allusion!)

  3. ZZLe4Ni says:

See you can tell when music’s fresh by the comments and how they’re mostly more than a sentence in English(I know it’s getting harder and harder for them to remember their words!).

These kinds of songs are fresh vegetables, the kids can go ahead and have their frozen peas(DISGUSTING).

Well i love pop music, im not sure what you mean when you say internet meme remixes, now this doesn’t even sound like rock music, i’d say more a creative electronic maybe ambient, i don’t remember i haven’t heard the song in a while. But, yes i agree art-rocks a stupid term, But some may just write a catchy pop song on an acoustic guitar and it can be extremely enjoyable, it could have charm, it doesn’t need to be “other worldly” and I’m sure there’s value in that.

danielhl, you should’ve specify which of the four prior comments you were responding to.
But, if you were responding to NotHomeless, you’re an idiot.
If they don’t sound the same, people won’t listen to them for the same reason.
People listen to different things depending on their mood and setting.

  13. repku says:

    Artrock?..
    The hell?
    Music IS art.
Anybody who says elsewise probably listens to crappy pop music that’s been diluted with internet meme remixes by people who clearly don’t even know what the mean with the only possible redeeming quality being that they sacrificed lyrics for beat.
Which, by the way, is BS.
